The Birthplace of the Blues

The birthplace of the Blues. The Delta Blues. The Mississippi Delta… she has a soul. She lives and breathes.

200 miles of rainy backroads; cotton fields all around. Crossing the Mississippi, the Almighty shone through.

Sometime around 100 years ago, Delta Blues lore teaches that Robert Johnson brought his guitar to a crossroads at midnight; sold his soul to the devil for the Blues.

Apparently, Old Blue and I took a wrong turn. We found “a crossroads” which claims to be the one. Clarksburg, the intersection of HWY 61 & HWY 49, is apparently not the one! Legend says otherwise.

Tomorrow, I seek the Dockery. Tomorrow, we’ll discuss HaSatan. Tonight, I rest easy in the Deep.

Shabbat shalom, Y’all.
